Q. How does the American Eagle Compare to other Brands?.
A. See why 100% of our customers prefer the American Eagle over other brands. American Eagle Windmill is the Highest Rated Pond Aeration Windmill in the World. Click on the picture below (Turn On Volume)
Q. How do I know what size windmill I need to order?
A. An American Eagle Windmill will aerate ponds up to 2 acres. The 18 foot & 23 foot American Eagle are identical except for the Tower Height. If you can erect the windmill in a wide open windy area at least 200 feet from any buildings, trees or other wind obstructions the 18 foot windmill is all you need. If you have wind obstructions closer you will want to purchase the 23 foot American Eagle. If you are too close to wind obstructions a windmill will not work efficiently enough and we would recommend you purchase our HP Electric Pond Aeration Pumps also found on our Order Online Page. If you have any doubt as to whether or not a windmill will work at your location, please e-mail us photos of your pond & site to joem@pondaeration.com and we'll do our best to evaluate which system would work best.
Q. What is the size of the Wheel & Tower?
A. American Eagle offers 2 different sizes, both have a 6 foot Wheel that turns counter clockwise, made to look like the old fashion water pumping windmills. Over all heights from the top of the wheel tip to the ground of 18 & 23 feet. Both have wide stance 4 legged towers for more stability than the 3 legged towers we sold in the past. The 23' has a 6' 8" Base Leg to Leg the 18' has a 5' Base. Total Weight 23' is 315 # * 18' is 270 #.
Q. How far can the windmill be from the pond?
A. The closer the better but The American Eagle Windmill can pump as far as 1,000 feet.
Q. How do I order & how long will it take for me to receive my American Eagle Windmill?
A You can order easily online on our web site Order Online Page using any major credit card. All orders before NOON weekdays ship UPS the same day.
Q. What material is the American Eagle made?
A. The Tower and Blades are of heavy gauge galvanized metal and have withstood winds in excess of 84 mph, the Wheel Hub is heavy duty 1/4" Powder Coated Steel. The Tower Top & Compressor are of heavy duty Powder Coated Steel for long life and beauty. The Crankshaft is 1" NEW Improved Boeshield Rust & Corrosion Protection T-9 Waterproof Lubricant for added protection.
Q. How many Air Stone Diffusers will I need?
A. For a small round or oval pond 1/2 acre 16' deep or less 1 stone should be enough. For ponds larger or irregular shape 2 stones may be needed. Keep in mind by adding more stones does not produce more volume of air it only splits the amount of air from the compressor by the number of stones used. The American Eagle can supply up to 4 Air Stone Diffusers in shallow water.
Q. Does a Bellow Pump Intermittently?
A. All Diaphragm & Bellows pump Intermittently. Most diaphragms only take a 1/2" stroke or less so the pulsation is not noticeable. The American Eagle Bellows makes a huge 1 & 3/4 inch stroke so the 3 & 1/2 times more volume of air is more noticeable. The Intermittent Pulsation not only provides more Volume of Air it also is much more efficient in Circulating the Water. The Bellow is the most effective way to draw the bottom water to the Diffuser, Rejuvenating it with Fresh Smelling Air and with the aid of the Intermittent Pulsation it Aerates & Circulates the entire pond from Bottom to Top.
Q. How long will it take to Assemble & Install my windmill?
A. It takes an average of 4 to 6 hours for 2 people to Assemble, then you will need 6 strong people for about 5 minutes to stand the windmill up as it weighs from 303 to 418 pounds depending if you purchase the 18 * 23 or 28 foot model. Each American Eagle Windmill purchased from Joe Mescan Windmill LLC will include our Exclusive Assembly & Installation DVD to assure easy and proper Assembly & Installation. You can see a FREE Sample of our Assembly DVD on our Home Page.
Q. What about Warranty?
A. See our 5,4,3,2,1 year Warranty on our American Eagle Page of our Web Site. In the past we have sold most all other brands and the folks at American Eagle are the best manufacturer we have ever had the privilege to work with as far as Customer Service, Satisfaction & Warranty Claims.
Q. How deep should my Air Stone Diffuser be placed?
A. The American Eagle Bellow Compressor is capable of pumping 14 to 16 feet deep, however, a study has been done and it has been determined that for best results the Stone Diffuser should rest on the floor of the pond at about 1/2 to 2/3 of the pond depth. Example: if your pond is deepest at 12 feet, find an area in the pond about 6 to 8 feet deep for the Stone Diffuser to rest on the pond floor. See the detailed study in the paragraph below.
The study found that during the Hot Sizzling Summer the fish like to go to the bottom where the water is cooler, if the diffuser were at the very bottom it would bring the cooler water to the surface where it would be heated by the Sun & Warm Temperature causing the entire pond to warm too much. In the Freezing Winter it works just the opposite, the fish metabolism slows down and they go to the bottom for warmer temperature water, if the Stone Diffuser were at the very bottom it would bring the warm water from the bottom to the top and chill the water to almost freezing temperatures. Keep in mind the bottom 1/2 or 1/3 will still get aerated but just at a slower rate so as not to disturb the natural temperature welcomed by happy fish.
DO NOT feed your fish when the water temperature is below 50 degrees. Fish will NOT eat in cold water and the food will decay and foul the water.
Q. How many CFM ( Cubic Feet of air per Minute )
A. Cubic Feet of Air introduced into a pond is far more important than Pressure. It has been estimated by an independent study that the American Eagle can produce up to 6 CFM in strong winds 20 to 25 mph, about 4 CFM at 15 to 20 mph and 3 + CFM in Light to Moderate Breezes. The American Eagle is a High Volume Bellow type compressor taking a 1 & 3/4"Stroke unlike High Pressure Diaphragm types that only make a 1/2" stroke thus The American Eagle can produce over 3 times the volume of most competitors.
Q. Will this Windmill Over speed?
A. NO! American Eagle has a built in Self Governing in the Design of the Wheel. Even though the Eagle uses 3 of the Highest Quality Line Shaft High Speed Grease able Bearings rated for 2,000 rpm it is still designed to turn away from winds in excess of 28 mph to prevent any Over Speeding.
Q. How do I anchor my American Eagle Windmill?
A. Your AE Windmill will have 4 - 4' steel rods included, they work great in heavy clay soil, however if you have softer soil we highly recommend you pour the 4 steel rods in concrete by either drilling post holes and bell them out at the bottom then fill the holes with concrete or some customers like to pour a concrete pad and use full 1 inch anchor bolts. Other customers with soft soil buy full 1 inch rebar x 6 or 8' long and use them instead of the 4' rods supplied.
Q. What is the advantage to Sinking Hose over Floating Hose?
A. You will receive 100 feet of Floating Hose FREE and you will need this to go from the Compressor to the waters edge. Floating hose is less expensive and can be used all the way to the Air Stone Diffuser by tying weights on it every 8 feet. Sinking hose is much easier to work with but is more expensive. We recommend the Sinking Hose for faster and neater installations. All ponds are different so we have our web site ORDER ONLINE Page set up so every customer can custom design a package for their specific pond.
Q. What will aeration do for my pond in the Winter?
A. Here in Ohio at our Fish Farm our American Eagle Windmill with 1 stone diffuser keeps a 5' to 40' diameter opening in our pond ice all winter. This allows all the poisonous ammonia, nitrate and hydrogen sulfide gases to escape from the pond to help prevent winter kill of fish.
Q. Do I have to pay Sales Tax?
A. All Ohio Residence must pay 6.75 % Sales Tax unless they are Tax Exempt. NO SALES TAX for out of State buyers.
Q. Can this Windmill pump Water?
A. Yes, with the use of our Water Pump Accessory, also found on our Order Online Page, the Eagle can pump water to livestock holding tanks, gardens, cabins, homes, villages at a rate of about 240 + gallons per hour with a 10 to 15 mph wind. The American Eagles generous amount of CFM will operate both an Air Stone and Water Pump at the same time, unlike high pressure pumps that can only operate one at a time.
Q. Will this windmill make electric?
A. NO !
Q. How will this Windmill Aerator improve my pond?
A. Aeration is the BEST thing anyone can do to improve Pond Water Quality. Oxygen is a main element of water, the more air in the water the better the quality. Once the water quality is improved it will begin to combat algae and aquatic weeds naturally. Some folks call this a Balanced Pond. The aeration will take the ammonia, nitrate and hydrogen sulfide gases out of the pond removing the food source from unwanted algae. See more by watching our Promotional DVD on our Home Page.
